The Artist’s Toolbox—Depicting a Sense of Place

Ancient Patterns—Threads of Time

4th Grade
February 21, 22, and 23, 2012
Fort Worth Community Arts Center

Imagination Celebration is sponsoring a gallery exhibit of an area artist’s vintage quilts and artistic quilts made from wood and metal. This art is the inspiration for a fascinating look at the way patterns have influenced cultures throughout time. Students will meet an African artist who will share her native culture through music, dance, and costumes in an interactive performance. Other activities include quilters from Cabbage Rose and local quilting guilds who will share the history and designs of the American quilt and help students use fabric pieces to create their own quilt designs and a musician who will lead students through the creation of patterns to form musical numbers with cultural underpinnings. This entire program is a cultural timepiece.
