Join this Kennedy Center Artist to explore using puppets in the classroom to expand learning and build visual references. Younger students will learn about story telling skills and how to use puppets to explore characterization development and enhance your teaching “tool box.” Participants will create their own puppets using kits provided by the artist.
How Music Helps to Interpret Places and Emotions (ES/MS/HS)

Accomplished veteran composer Arturo Rodriguez has a special manner of demonstrating
- with piano - his unique creative process and of teaching students to listen for the elements of the music that project emotions and describe places, as example will be his new work “interpreting” the Grand Canyon. Teachers will enjoy this workshop based on this creative process and will learn to help students use music to communicate their own stories and emotions to others.
Creating a Museum in your Classroom (ES/MS)

When it comes to bringing learning to life, this Kennedy Center artist is a master in the field.
Teachers learn to utilize museum practices in the classroom in order to engage students in
active learning. This skill can be utilized across curriculum content, age levels, and learning
abilities. Teachers will learn strategies to develop classroom museums as enhanced learning
environments within the school walls.
