Contemporary Dance Fort Worth
You’re a Dancer, Too / School Residency
This 50-minute lecture-performance introduces the concepts of modern dance movement, choreography and
basic terminology. The program emphasizes that movement and gesture are tools which we use to communicate every day to our friends, teachers and families. Each program features interactive activities for students to practice cognitive and verbal skills which are required elements in the TAAS tests (e.g. sequencing). Students from the audience are brought on stage to perform alongside CD/FW dancers. In
conjunction with the performance, a series of eight creative movement classes will be provided for two groups of students at each school over a period of four weeks. Residencies can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the school and students. Residency classes are usually scheduled to replace a P.E. class or another fine arts class already scheduled into the curriculum.
