Heros of the Imagination

"An Exhibit with World Photographer Lekha Singh"
Presented by Imagination Celebration

Imagination Celebration Fort Worth believes that brilliance and genius abides in every living person - in every corner and in every circumstance of life, and that within each person there is a special something just waiting to be awakened. It is for this belief that we exist – our children are where it all begins. They are heros everyone.

Imagination Celebration Fort Worth (ICFW) began just over 20 years ago as a response to the need for exciting energy around learning in, through, and about the arts. It was created to build greater connectivity to and inclusion in, the amazing programming of the stellar arts and cultural institutions in our area and from around the state, nation, and world to people all across our community.

The programs are developed to ignite learning in the classroom, to inspire young minds and those who teach them, and to awaken knowledge of the arts as well as, to bring history, science and the wonder of the worlds rich and varied tapestry of cultures to life through innovative interdisciplinary learning. ICFW has reached two decades of students, teachers and families from across our city. They are everywhere and they tell us they remember.

ICFW has inspired programs in other cities in the United States and in Mexico.

Throughout its history, ICFW has been blessed with countless individuals who, through hard work and imagination have made it the outstanding, nationally and internationally recognized organization that it is today.

Still others, whether as members of an audience at one of our many programs in schools, cultural institutions, or performance halls - or as participants in our intensive arts programs or competitions, Statewide Program for the Deaf, Invention Convention, Imagination Garden, or some of the many other unique programs - have seen their lives completely transformed by the opportunities that ICFW has presented throughout the years.

Heroes of Imagination celebrates twenty years of Imagination Celebration’s mission to provide the best in arts and cultural programming to students from kindergarten through university and their teachers and families. It celebrates the inspiration and complete transformation that these opportunities have brought to the lives of the talented young men and women who, because of a dance they saw or a concert they heard, decided to devote their lives to the arts, humanities, or sciences or have discovered a path of interest within themselves.

In this exhibit you will see photographs of individuals connected to Imagination Celebration FortWorth that have shaped the community we live in and who have been shaped by what we do.We have seen lives lifted up, minds engaged, imaginations ignited and purpose found.

These stories are all connected through the network of brilliant individuals young and old – students, teachers, artists, mothers and fathers, stars, heroes all - that ICFW has woven over its 20 years. They are also the result of the imagination, determination, and achievement of those whose photos you see here.

These photographs represent some of the many thousands of youth and individuals who remember one experience, or whose lives have been inspired or totally transformed by the work of Imagination Celebration FortWorth.

This exhibit is the result of a partnership between ICFWand photographer Lekha Singh. Lekha, whose, “African Journeys” Exhibition was presented by Imagination Celebration Fort Worth in 2006, travels the world to capture images that explore the human and environmental condition. Her photographs have appeared in such publications as The New York Times and National Geographic's The Other Side of War and are exhibited throughout the world.

Now she has turned her lens to celebrate the accomplishments of the many people that make up the Imagination Celebration legacy.
