Elizabeth Kahura - African Safari Program

January 19 - M.M. Walton
January 20 - Glen Park & Carroll Peak
January 21 - Helbing & Como

Born and raised in Kenya, Elizabeth Kahura uses her experiences there as inspiration for her presentations. Her shows demonstrate the similarities and differences between US and African cultures. Elizabeth crafts her presentations in such a way that the audience leaves not only with a better understanding of life in Africa but how this knowledge can be applied to their lives. Since starting her company African Safari in 2000, she has made more than 700 presentations to schools, libraries, festivals, and daycare centers on Africa’s culture; lifestyle; authentic stories, poems, and sayings; geography; and art, music, and dance. The African Safari program consists of a series of adaptable performances aimed at providing a better understanding of the African continent. It includes A Day in Africa (geography, culture, and lifestyle), Folktales from Africa (authentic stories, poems, and sayings), Echoes of Africa (music and dance), and African Art (carvings, clothing, and instruments). Performances for your children will be offered on a first come first serve basis. The Main goal of these performances is to encourage a more tolerant attitude towards cultural differences.
