Kimbell Art Museum
Art Working
This program for selected Fort Worth ISD high school art classes presents the opportunity to enhance the students' familiarity with the Museum through a series of visits. Designed to integrate observation skills and critical thinking with independent artistic expression, these interactive sessions consist of a docent-guide tour followed by a hands-on related art activity. Topics include an insider's tour of the Kimbell's award-winning building, examination of artworks from the permanent collection or special exhibitions, and discussion of museum careers and the institution's role in the community. Teachers receive an educational packet that provides a comprehensive introduction to each session. Over the course of the school year, students gain a varied understanding of the Museum, its collections, and functions.
