Pat Johnson
Millennium Mural
Texas artist Pat Johnson will work with students from selected Fort Worth elementary schools to create a clay tile mural based on a study of the Mars Millennium challenge. The wall mural, to be mounted on a selected site in downtown Fort Worth, will be divided into two parts representing the participating students' vision of their cherished Fort Worth past and ideal imagined future. Students will be engaged in classroom conversations about what they cherish from their past and what they want to carry forward to build a better tomorrow. A special dedication of this mural will include a selected speaker from the White House Millennium Council or the Mars Millennium Project.
Pat Johnson received her B.F.A. from North Texas State University in Denton. She later taught at the University of Houston and the Glassell School of Art. In 1977, she was a National Endowment for the Arts "Artist in Residence" at the Star of the Republic Museum in Washington on the Brazos.
