I began collaborating with Imagination Celebration over twenty years ago when I developed “Circle Journey: A Guide for Earth’s Children”. Through Imagination Celebration, that program, based on Native American understanding, interactively engaged thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students and faculty in developing personal value and the importance of interconnectedness.

After my work with Circle Journey, Imagination Celebration inspired me to continue my own education and to follow my own passions. The organization, the children it touches and Ginger Head in particular continue to inspire me to keep going.

After my experience with cancer and radiation, I was asked back to interact with students at an even higher and more personal level than before, when Imagination Celebration Imagination Celebration presented a solo exhibition of my work called “Brazos River Country”, which included my drawings, paintings, field notes, poetry, and music.

This exhibition was a result of my childhood exploration of the Brazos River. Its sounds and silence – its quiet mystery have inspired me and connected me to the earth and its majesty through out my life. I have returned there time and again and always the river brings me home and lifts me up. The response of the students and educators to this exhibit and related program was remarkable.

Over the years I have been able to spend time with thousands of students in numerous schools with Imagination Celebration. That experience continues to enrich my understanding and to fire my passion to help young people develop confidence, competence, and mastery—to rise to their own fullness. We must help them to awaken the giftedness inside them. Imagination Celebration’s programs do just that. Without the help of countless people, I would not be living the life I am enjoying now as an artist, poet, and musician. I owe them a debt that can only be repaid by giving to others what has so freely been given to me.

There is no better or more effective forum for accomplishing that than Imagination Celebration.
