"And if every flower looked just the same,
'Flower' would have to be each flower's name."

The Kennedy Center Education Department commissioned this orginal work based on the children's book by Eugene Fern for the 25th anniversary of the Kennedy Center. This Caribbean flavored dance piece, with narration, explores friendship and being proud of who we are. The play's main character is Pepito, an eleven year old boy who loves to dance and is determined to follow his dream even though the other kids laugh at him. "Pepito's Story" is directed by Debbie Allen (co-producer of Amistad) and stars dance phenomenon Rasta Thomas and Lacy Darryl Phillips (star of film and Broadway), and a cast of 90 local children. It is the first performance in the Bass Hall by children for student audiences. Music by Arturo Sandoval
